Thanks so much for the Gyrowheel tip. I am dreading teaching Little T, although I think it’s past time. (I didn’t learn til I was 12 or something, so perhaps this dread is hereditary.) Definitely going to look into it. And I sympathize — I’m sure I’ll be emotional too!

I recently discovered her as I was dealing with my mother in law, Ruth, and her metastasized breast cancer. Ruth lost her battle two days before Susan. I think about Susan while I train for the avon walk. She left her mark in this world, that’s for sure.

Gosh, that is hard. I stay at home with my son, but he spends a few hours a day with his grandparents, who devote their entire being and time to him when he’s there. While I’m at home frantically catching up with housework and my blogging activities so I can be 100% with him when he’s with me.

In the beginning I felt guilty, like, why is he with someone else (though they are family and love him to death) when I’m a stay-at-home mother? But I realized I’m a better mother when I’ve had time to decompress and be an adult, and do adult things, even if it’s for 2-3 hours/ day.

There is no one way to be a perfect mom, but there are a million ways to be a good one. I think you’re a good mom.

From one working full mom to another here’s a hug for you! I think almost just all working moms out there - by choice or not - have come to struggle with these thoughts you mention. My heart still breaks when I leave my son for work but I love how you say maybe it’s ok to miss them because it makes the times we do spend with our kids more precious, the quality is better! I’m not a stay at home mom material myself and I had to go back to work to make a living for my son since I am a single mom. It’s important to realize that we are doing what’s best in our efforts. We are doing just enough. Thank you for sharing and linking up on Just Be Enough

Whatever you need to do to take the best care of your family, whether its working or staying at home, is enough.

I’ve been working from home for over a year but now that we have two little ones, I find that I miss having an office to go into. Its hard dividing my focus between work and kids in the same setting. But I have to work and I want to work. So as long as I try my best each day, that has to be enough.

You’ll find the right balance, too.

I have done this very thing (going back to work…to SAHM…going back to work…SAHM) Three times and as the kids get older, I find that I am trying to squeeze each moment before they go off to college. Did I like working? Sure. Did I miss being home? You bet.

We do what we need to do and it is ok.
