I am a mom in her
(very) late 30′s early 40′s trying to do better. I am inspired by music, nature, honesty, kindness, progressive causes and my kids. I believe in marriage equality, equal pay for equal work and that every child deserves the right to an excellent education. I hate injustice and dishonest politicians (which, let’s face it, is most of them. A girl can dream though) and I try to make a difference in someone’s life every single day.
I have worked in the mental health field as a creative arts therapist; in deaf education as a project manager for a technology grant from the National Science Foundation; in politics as a grassroots organizer and internet consultant; in the adoption field as a legal administrator; in higher education as the manager of two academic departments at Gallaudet University and as a full time stay at home mom. My favorite job is always my kids, even though it’s also the hardest. Any job where I can use American Sign Language is my second favorite.
I write a lot about figuring out how to be a better parent, partner and mother and a little about other stuff. I love meeting new people, so please leave a comment or send me an email at jen at justpowers dot com.
